July 2020

Congratulations to my Stony Brook students Lilly De Bruin, Jae Sung Lee and Evan Philip who have graduated this summer, and are successfully pursuing careers in science!

April 2020

Honored to join the Scientific Advisory Board of the Simons Foundation

February 2019

You are invited to attend the “Quantum Immersion” workshop at Stony Brook on February 25. The workshop is part of the effort to build up the Quantum Information Science research at Stony Brook University and BNL. Registration is required, but it is free.

November 2018

The talks from our NORDITA program on “Quantum Anomalies and Chiral Magnetic Phenomena” are available here.

August 2017

NORDITA (Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics in Stockholm, Sweden) has officially approved our program on “Quantum Anomalies and Chiral Magnetic Phenomena”, to be held on September 17-October 12, 2018. Applications are being currently accepted!

May 2017

Our paper Deep inelastic scattering as a probe of entanglement (with E. Levin) is accepted by Physical Review D. In this paper we give a new interpretation of the parton model that is entirely based on entanglement entropy. In particular, we find that at small Bjorken x the entanglement entropy is equal to the logarithm of the parton distribution.

April 2017

Humbled to receive the 2017 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship from the State University of New York

January 2017

The observation of the Chiral magnetic effect has been named one of the Top Ten Science Successes of 2016 of Brookhaven National Laboratory

Our paper Faraday Rotation Due to Surface States in the Topological Insulator (Bi1–xSbx)2Te3  , Y.Shao et al, appears in Nano Letters

December 2016

Together with K.Fukushima, A.Furusaki, T.Hatsuda, N.Nagaosa and H.-U.Yee, we have organized the first Chiral Matter conference in Tokyo, hosted by the RIKEN Institute
